Two young Swiss men have received unconditional prison sentences over unrest in Zurich’s District 4, SRF reported. The penalty orders are not yet legally binding.
The men were arrested during clashes around Langstrasse in the early hours of Sunday. Prosecutors accused them of supporting violent attacks on people, particularly police officers, and on property.
Prosecutors issued penalty orders for breach of the peace, violence and threats against authorities and officials, trespassing and criminal damage. They also said the men had violated the ban on covering their faces.
The men can object to the penalty orders and request a court hearing.
