A kitchen fire broke out on Monday evening at a holiday accommodation in Hart im Zillertal, in the Schwaz district, ORF reported. Investigators believe paper and cardboard scraps on a heated side stove caught fire.
Ten teenagers from Munich, aged 14 to 16, were having dinner in the accommodation without their parents or guardians. They noticed smoke, called emergency services, tried to put out the fire and then left the building, police said. The Hart im Zillertal fire brigade extinguished the blaze.
A 14-year-old girl with pneumonia and chronic asthma was taken by ambulance to a clinic in Innsbruck for precautionary assessment. The other teenagers were unharmed and were collected by their parents that evening. The amount of damage was not immediately known.
