A short circuit on a power line caused a widespread power outage in Salzburg, ORF reported on Sunday, citing the Salzburg AG website.

The outage was still mainly affecting the municipality of Elsbethen, where Salzburg AG reported a problem at a substation. A technician was on the way.

Earlier, the outage had also affected Aigen, a district of Salzburg, and the municipalities of Elsbethen and Anif in Flachgau. Parts of the Tennengau municipalities of Puch bei Hallein, Adnet and Krispl were without power for about half an hour.

There were also initial reports that traffic lights in Salzburg had briefly stopped working.
