Cyclist seriously injured after car hits him in Dornbirn

A 65-year-old cyclist was seriously injured when a car hit him in Dornbirn on Saturday afternoon, ORF reported. He fell and was left lying on the road before being taken to hospital.

Police said a 78-year-old driver was turning from Lustenauerstraße into Raiffeisenstraße at about 4.30pm and intended to move into the left lane. The cyclist was also intending to do so.

The driver’s view may have been restricted by another car beside him, police said. He apparently saw the cyclist too late to stop in time. The cyclist received first aid at the scene and was taken to Dornbirn Hospital.

An alcohol test on the driver was negative.
