Police find drugs after men kick in Vienna flat door
Police found cocaine and other suspected drugs after three men kicked at a flat door in Vienna’s Floridsdorf district on Friday morning, ORF reported. Neighbours called police, and the incident led to several drug finds and arrests.
Shortly after 6 a.m., officers encountered the men, aged 20, 23 and 26, in the stairwell of an apartment building. They said they were worried about a friend inside the flat, who they believed had taken drugs and might be experiencing a medical emergency.
Police said they doubted the men’s explanation. A small plastic container holding white powder then fell from the 26-year-old’s pocket. Asked what it was, he reportedly called it “coke”. Officers searched the three men and found two more bags of suspected drugs, drug-use equipment and prescription tablets. The men were reported under the narcotics law.
After officers forced open the flat door, they found the friend asleep and woke him. More cocaine was on the kitchen table, along with tablets, several mobile phones, small-denomination cash, equipment used for drug dealing and an airsoft gun.
The 21-year-old tenant was provisionally arrested and issued a temporary weapons ban. Vienna’s State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation. The suspect declined to give a statement and was reported to prosecutors while remaining at liberty, on the order of the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office.
