Residents of Steyr’s Waldrandsiedlung settlement no longer need to boil drinking water after follow-up tests confirmed the water is safe, ORF reported. The drinking water authority of the Upper Austrian state government lifted the advisory in coordination with Steyr City Utilities.
The tests confirmed there is no longer any microbiological contamination in the water. Enterococci were first detected during a routine check by the city utilities.
Since mid-October, about 700 people, including some residents of the municipality of St. Ulrich bei Steyr, had been told to boil their drinking water.
