East Tyrol recorded more arrivals and overnight stays this summer than last year, ORF reported. The region ranked third among Tirol’s 34 tourism regions, behind Innsbruck and its holiday villages, and the Ötztal region.
From May to September, East Tyrol counted more than 360,000 arrivals and 1.2 million overnight stays. Arrivals rose by 5.9 percent year on year, while overnight stays increased by 1.8 percent.
Visitors stayed for an average of 3.3 days. Austrian guests came mainly from North Tirol and eastern Austria, while Germany and Italy were the region’s main European markets.
A well-booked September also contributed to the positive summer results. East Tyrol recorded 208,075 overnight stays that month, up 6.4 percent from September 2025.
Tourism board chair Franz Theurl said the region attracted visitors with its unspoilt nature, open spaces and holidays away from mass tourism.
