Burgenland’s thermal spas are drawing strong visitor numbers during the autumn school holidays despite the economic crisis, with some welcoming more guests in the first half of the break than last year, ORF reports.

The Sonnentherme Lutzmannsburg spa is fully booked, and day tickets are currently unavailable. Manuela Klawatsch said the range of pools and slides, children’s activities and added attractions, including a Halloween event in the theme park, were helping to keep visitor numbers high.

The Avita spa in Bad Tatzmannsdorf, which focuses on relaxation and quiet, has also benefited from demand for Burg-Geflüster at Schlaining Castle. Its managing director, Peter Prisching, said more guests were discovering the area’s walking and gentle hiking routes in autumn.

Day visitors have also had limited availability at the Stegersbach spa. Its first half of the holiday period has been busier than last year, and the spa has been fully booked for two weeks, managing director Marcel Pomper said. It continues to receive enquiries for the whole week through All Souls’ Day.

Day admission at Burgenland’s spas costs about 40 euros, excluding access to the sauna.
