Vienna has extended its free dog registration campaign until mid-November, ORF reports, as many dogs remain unregistered in the official pet database.

Owners can register their dogs at the City Service bus, which tours all of Vienna’s districts. In the coming days, it is scheduled to stop at Enkplatz in Simmering, Margaretenplatz in Margareten and Yppenplatz in Ottakring.

Owners do not need to bring their dogs. They must provide photo identification and the dog’s chip number. In some cases, including for first-time dog owners, registration also requires a certificate of competence. A copy should be brought along, though it can also be copied at the bus.

The campaign began in early September and drew more than 300 people two years ago. Registration helps reunite lost dogs with their owners. Dogs can also be registered online for free at any time of year.
