Police stopped a truck driver without a valid licence during checks in Leisach, in the Lienz district, and found that his passenger had a forged licence, ORF reported.

The light truck was stopped during routine checks at a checkpoint on the B100. Officers first found several serious technical defects on the vehicle. They then discovered that the Russian national driving it had lost his licence about a year and a half earlier. Police barred him from continuing the journey.

The Lithuanian passenger offered to take over but presented a Lithuanian driving licence that police said was a complete forgery. He admitted to the offence. Once inquiries are complete, the case will be reported to the relevant authorities.
