Depot to close all 24 Austrian stores after parent insolvency
Home decor chain Depot will close all 24 of its Austrian stores, including four in Tyrol, following the insolvency of its parent company in Germany, ORF reported on Tuesday. Around 140 employees are affected.
Gries Deco Austria GmbH said it could not continue its business independently and would cease operations on 31 January 2027. The company, based in Bruck an der Leitha, will be wound up after 17 years in Austria.
Depot plans to remain open for the Christmas shopping season and will hold clearance sales with discounts. Customers should redeem any outstanding vouchers by 31 January 2027.
Employees were informed of the closures at midday on Tuesday. The company will not provide a social plan, but chief executive Christian Gries told the APA news agency he was confident all staff would find work elsewhere.
