Water and Light Festival draws more than 65,000 visits

More than 65,000 visits were recorded at the Water and Light Festival in the neighbouring Austrian and Slovenian cities of Bad Radkersburg and Gornja Radgona, ORF Steiermark reported.

The festival ran for 11 evenings from October 15 to 25, featuring 12 light installations that invited visitors to explore the two cities. People came from Austria, Slovenia and beyond.

Part of the cross-border Interreg project deProfundis, the festival presented artistic interpretations of water phenomena in the Austrian-Slovenian border region. Thermal and mineral water, mofettes and the cities’ water landscape provided inspiration for the installations and offered new ways to engage with scientific findings.

Project leader Mojca Bedjanič said the response had exceeded the team’s expectations. “The enthusiasm of the visitors, the unique atmosphere and the many positive responses overwhelmed us,” she said.
