E-bike rider injured after colliding with dog on cycle path

A 74-year-old e-bike rider was injured after colliding with a dog on the Enns cycle path in Döllach, in the Liezen district, on Monday afternoon, ORF reported.

The rider was heading towards Irdning at about 3.30pm when he approached a 24-year-old pedestrian walking in the opposite direction with a leashed dog. As the cyclist passed at a speed appropriate to the conditions, the dog ran from a nearby roadside ditch onto the path. The rider hit the dog and fell from his bike.

The man suffered severe shoulder pain and was taken by the Red Cross to DKH Schladming. The dog was uninjured, police said. The cyclist was wearing a helmet, and an alcohol test was negative.
