Car strikes three-year-old boy in Ferlach

A three-year-old boy was injured after being struck by a car in Ferlach on Saturday, ORF Kärnten reported. He was flown by rescue helicopter to Klagenfurt Accident Hospital.

The accident happened at about 12.05 p.m. A 59-year-old man was driving when the boy, who was standing by the roadside, suddenly ran across the road towards his father, police said. The father was a few metres away, on the other side of the road or in the driveway to the residential building’s parking area.

The driver could not avoid the collision. The car hit the boy head-on, knocking him to the ground and injuring him. The child was flown to hospital with his mother accompanying him.
