Police suspect arson after three cars burn in Innsbruck
Three vehicles caught fire in a carport in Innsbruck early Sunday, destroying one and badly damaging two others, ORF reported. Police suspect the blaze was deliberately set.
The fire broke out at about 1 a.m. in the Reichenau district. Heavy smoke spread through the neighbourhood and reached an adjoining residential building.
Innsbruck’s professional fire brigade sent several vehicles to the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze and stopped it from spreading to a nearby shelter for rubbish bins.
The front of one car was completely burned out. The fire also damaged the carport and the rubbish shelter. No one was injured, and the amount of damage was not yet known.
Police said an initial investigation, including an examination of the scene by a fire investigator, indicated that the fire had been set deliberately.
