Hourly S-Bahn to link Bregenz, St Gallen and Weinfelden

Saturday 24th October 2026 on 10:30 in Austria

S-Bahn, Switzerland, Vorarlberg

A direct hourly S-Bahn service from Bregenz through St Gallen to Weinfelden will begin on December 13, ORF reported, citing the canton of Thurgau’s latest timetable information. Passengers will be able to travel the route without changing trains.

The service will combine Switzerland’s S5, which currently ends in St Margrethen, with Vorarlberg’s S3. The trains will run under the S3 name, eliminating the transfer at St Margrethen.

Trains on the cross-border route will be operated by Thurbo, a Swiss regional railway. The service was announced last year, and the canton of Thurgau has now confirmed its start with the timetable change.
