Bregenz’s city police will move from Bahnhofstraße 51 to the Rathaus district to reduce rental costs, ORF reported. The city council approved the move on Thursday, with about 1.18 million euros earmarked for renovations.

The police will use existing rooms in the Bürgerhaus civic centre, which must be rearranged and adapted. First, the city’s IT and Digitalisation department will move to the second floor of the Magazin 4 building. The rooms it vacates in the Bürgerhaus’s older building will be fitted out for the police’s internal operations.

A public service desk will be set up on the ground floor of the Bürgerhaus’s newer building. It will bring together services including the lost property office and the handling of reports and other public requests.

The renovations are expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The city says the move will make better use of its own buildings and save the rent paid for the police’s current premises.
