Raiding’s Liszt Centre celebrated its 20th anniversary and the 215th birthday of Franz Liszt with a concert on Thursday, ORF reported.
The concert hall opened in 2006, a bold undertaking in the small village. Two decades later, it has built an international reputation as a concert venue. Pianist Kateryna Titova, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and conductor Martin Sieghart performed Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at the anniversary concert.
The modern concert hall stands beside Liszt’s birthplace, a combination described as unique. Burgenland Governor Hans Peter Doskozil said the centre had become a flagship for the state. “This is something very special. Not just a gem for Burgenland, but a cultural venue for all of Austria,” he said.
Celebrations in Raiding continue through Sunday, with chamber music, a piano recital and an orchestral matinee.
