Drink prices at selected inns in Tyrol have risen faster than inflation in some cases over the past year, according to a survey by the Tyrol Chamber of Labour, reported by ORF on Wednesday.
The chamber’s testers checked prices in September and compared them with September 2025. A small glass of cola now costs between 3.20 and 4.60 euros, an average increase of just over 5%. Pure apple juice rose by an average of 4%, while a 0.3-litre spritzer of apple juice cost an average of 5.79% more.
A Verlängerter coffee now costs between 2.90 and 4.20 euros, with prices up by an average of 4%. Increases for alcoholic drinks such as beer and white wine spritzers were similar, the chamber said. Statistics Austria estimated annual inflation at 3.6% in September, below the average rise in drink prices at the inns surveyed.
The testers also found that more inns are charging for tap water. Six businesses that did not charge for it last year did so this year. Five of the 22 inns that charged for water did so only when customers ordered nothing else. A half-litre cost between 50 cents and 3.50 euros.
Ten of the inns surveyed offered the water under names such as “well water”, “spring water” or “Grander water”. The chamber questioned whether such offerings were superior to ordinary tap water, given what it described as the excellent quality of water in Tyrol.
