Carinthia, drug-impaired driving, road accidents

A 39-year-old truck driver was found unfit to drive after a crash on the A10 Tauern motorway in Carinthia on Tuesday evening, ORF reported. No one was injured, but the collision caused property damage.

The Bosnian national was driving a truck and trailer towards Salzburg when he hit two traffic guideposts in the municipality of Seeboden, in the district of Spittal an der Drau. Debris was thrown towards vehicles following behind. He initially continued without stopping.

A driver in a following car eventually persuaded him to pull over at the Eisentratten parking area. Police said a breathalyser test was negative, but officers noticed signs of possible drug impairment. A rapid drug test was positive, and a doctor subsequently found the man unfit to drive.

Police temporarily seized his driving licence and collected a security deposit. He will be reported to the Spittal an der Drau District Authority.
