100 firefighters contain fire at Eberndorf grain-drying facility

About 100 firefighters responded to a blaze at a grain-drying facility on a farm in Eberndorf on Tuesday evening, ORF reports. No one was injured, but the facility suffered extensive damage.

The fire broke out at about 8 p.m. Firefighters removed around 10 tonnes of soybeans from the dryer to stop the flames spreading to a nearby farm building, then extinguished the remaining hotspots.

The cause is not yet known. Damage is estimated to be in the high five-figure range in euros. Eighteen vehicles and crews from six volunteer fire brigades took part in the operation.
