An 18-year-old woman from Tyrol was rescued after becoming exhausted and unable to continue on the Weiße Gams via ferrata in Lofer, ORF reported.

She called emergency services on her mobile phone shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Six members of the Lofer mountain rescue team climbed up to her and secured her before setting up a rappel.

The rescuers lowered her about 40 metres to safe ground. She was uninjured, and the operation ended shortly before 6 p.m. She had been on a new entry route to the via ferrata, team leader Martin Fernsebner said.
