About 100 students protested in Munich against deteriorating and underfunded schools, BR reported. Police estimated the turnout at around 100, while the Bavarian Students’ Movement, which called the demonstration, put it at about 250. The rally was peaceful.

The students gathered on Geschwister-Scholl-Platz, a square in front of LMU Munich, under the slogan “From Munich to Paris: Students take to the streets.” They called for reforms and more funding, holding signs including “Education needs reform, no excuses” and chanting, “Strike at school, university and work — that is our answer to your politics.”

Protest organiser and student representative Steven Sedehi told BR that conditions in Bavaria were not comparable to those in France, but that some local schools had mouldy classrooms and gym roofs at risk of collapse. He said the movement wanted more money invested in schools and education. The students also rejected violence.
