Excavator injures worker at Laakirchen construction site

A 31-year-old worker was seriously injured when an excavator caught his foot at a construction site in Laakirchen, in the Gmunden district, on Tuesday afternoon, ORF reported.

The man, from the Wels-Land district, was carrying out compaction work with a vibratory rammer beside a utility trench shortly after 3 p.m. when the excavator operator, who was also working at the site, struck his foot. The worker fell.

The 26-year-old excavator operator, from the Grieskirchen district, immediately gave first aid, while another worker called emergency services. After initial treatment, the injured man was flown to hospital by emergency medical helicopter. His condition was not known.
