Penzing shooting victim tells police he was robbed
A man found with serious gunshot wounds in an apartment in Vienna’s Penzing district told police he had been robbed by four strangers, ORF reported. Police questioned him for the first time on Tuesday, a day after he was found.
The man said the four people took a substantial amount of cash and fled. He and another person who was in the apartment pursued them, he told police. A physical fight then broke out in the street, and he was shot.
Several bullets hit the man in the lower abdomen. Vienna’s professional ambulance service treated him and took him to hospital. He was not in life-threatening condition.
Vienna’s State Criminal Police Office is investigating on suspicion of attempted murder. The investigation and witness interviews are ongoing.
