A 26-year-old woman was rescued from a rocky ridge near the Hinterer Gosausee lake after losing the marked trail while trying to walk around the lake, ORF reported. She was wearing street clothes and shoes with smooth soles and carrying a handbag.

The Chinese woman was hiking near the Hohe Holzmeisteralm when she lost the trail markers. Rather than turn back, she followed faint tracks and animal trails into increasingly difficult terrain, where she became stranded.

Other hikers heard her calls for help and alerted police. Two alpine police officers and members of the Gosau mountain rescue team searched for her and established voice contact, as well as partial visual contact.

While the mountain rescuers climbed via a hunting trail, the police officers made their way through the rocky terrain to the woman. They secured her with a rope and brought her back down the mountain via the trail.
