Two teenagers killed in a crash in Nußdorf am Haunsberg have prompted an outpouring of grief, ORF reports. On Monday, a crisis intervention team returned to the school attended by the victims, while people gathered at the crash scene to pay their respects.

The crash happened on Saturday evening in the Flachgau district. A car carrying five young people left the road and rolled over several times. Two passengers, aged 16 and 18, died. The 17-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries; both were wearing seatbelts. Another 18-year-old was injured.

People brought candles, photos and other items to the crash scene. Kristian Ramanovic, who runs the school buffet, said he knew the young people because they came to buy things there each day. He brought flowers and lit candles at the scene.

All five occupants attended the same school. The crisis intervention team has supported more than 150 people since the crash, and was back at the school on Monday. Martina Mösl, head of psychosocial emergency care at the Salzburg Red Cross, said the team was helping people process what had happened and explaining next steps.

Crash investigator Gerhard Kronreif continued examining the wreck. He said the airbag and engine control units could be partly analyzed, and that data from the car’s electronics could help reconstruct its speed.

Twenty-nine people have died in road crashes in Salzburg state so far this year, compared with 24 in the whole of last year. The crash investigator urged road users to stay focused, adjust their speed and wear seatbelts.
