An ATM explosion set a bank building on fire in Beringen, in the canton of Schaffhausen, early on Monday, SRF reported, citing cantonal police. About 13 people living in the building were evacuated. No injuries have been reported.

Several blasts woke residents in the Enge neighbourhood at about 4:20 a.m. Unknown people had blown up an ATM, police told SRF News. The explosion caused considerable damage, but its cost has not yet been established.

Police have not commented on who was responsible, and the investigation is ongoing.

It is the second ATM bombing in the canton in a short period. In September, three people tried to blow up an ATM in Thayngen. One suspected perpetrator was seriously injured, and the group took no money.
