Mountain biker fights for life after crash in Styria
A 52-year-old man is in a life-threatening condition after crashing his mountain bike in Styria’s Murtal district on Sunday, ORF reported. A separate bicycle crash in Southeast Styria left a 63-year-old man seriously injured.
The 52-year-old was riding out of Zeltweg on a municipal road on Sunday afternoon when he apparently lost control of his bike because of a medical emergency, police said. He fell and hit his head on the asphalt.
Passers-by called emergency services. The Red Cross treated him before he was flown by rescue helicopter to UKH Graz, where doctors are fighting to save his life.
In Pirching am Traubenberg, a 63-year-old e-bike rider was seriously injured in a fall on a municipal road that afternoon. The cause is under investigation. He was wearing a helmet and suffered injuries to his cervical spine and face.
A motorcyclist who happened to pass by administered first aid and called emergency services. The man was flown by an emergency medical helicopter to LKH Graz.
