Tirol Greens complete candidate list for next state election

Tirol’s Greens have completed their candidate list for the next state election, with incumbent state parliament member Zeliha Arslan in second place and Kufstein councillor Viktoria Da Costa in third, ORF reported. Gebi Mair, the party’s lead candidate, was chosen six months ago.

The election is scheduled for a year from now. The Greens lost nearly 1.5 percentage points at the previous election and moved from government to opposition.

Mair told ORF he saw a chance for the party to return to government. He said housing and transport costs were soaring and too little had been done, adding that people wanted someone to take action.

Mair said he expected Anton Mattle of the ÖVP to be the next governor. If the ÖVP came first, he said, it would govern with the Blues. If it came second, it would seek another majority, which Mair said could be a Black-Green-Plus coalition.
