Tyrol is making around EUR 32 million available for municipal projects across the region in the third allocation this year from its Municipal Equalisation Fund, ORF reported. The funding will support infrastructure, hospitals, roads, fire services and measures to prepare for power outages and other emergencies.
Around EUR 21 million is earmarked for infrastructure, including village square upgrades, water pipes, fibre-optic networks, and new or refurbished kindergartens and schools. Schwaz district will receive the largest share, followed by Reutte, Innsbruck-Land and Innsbruck city.
The latest allocation includes EUR 3.6 million for repairs and maintenance on local roads. Tyrol says a total of EUR 8 million is available in 2026 for its programme to maintain and upgrade lower-level roads. Around EUR 60,000 will support emergency preparedness, including the purchase of backup generators.
Almost EUR 10 million will go to district hospitals for projects including new MRI scanners, hospital extensions and operating-room improvements. The fund will also provide EUR 775,000 for fire service infrastructure and equipment, including a new fire engine and an expanded fire station.
Examples of funded projects include a bridge over the Gschnitzbach in Innsbruck-Land; improvements at Hungerburg urn cemetery and Hötting primary school in Innsbruck; an MRI upgrade at St Johann hospital and a new fire station in Hochfilzen in Kitzbühel; and an extension to Kufstein district hospital and a new childcare centre in Langkampfen. Projects in other districts include school repairs in Fließ and Sillian, hospital work in Zams and Reutte, broadband expansion in Biberwier and Obertilliach, and a new middle school in Fügen.
