Burglars overpower Vienna resident and steal revolver

Two burglars took a revolver from a resident after he caught them inside his home in Vienna-Liesing on Thursday evening, ORF reported. The resident retrieved the firearm, which was registered to him, from a safe and aimed it at the pair. They overpowered him and fled with the gun.

Vienna police confirmed the incident on Friday, while clarifying that it was not a home invasion and that the resident had not been locked in the basement. He hid there after the burglars fled and called police.

The resident injured his left thumb in the struggle. The burglars took nothing else, and the revolver was recovered shortly afterwards. The suspects remain at large.
