Tirol will continue its home-treatment programme for children and adolescents with mental health conditions through 2028 and increase its capacity, ORF reported.
The state and social insurance have approved two more years of funding, amounting to two million euros. The programme will offer 12 places, up from 10, and retain its current staffing levels while adding a specialist doctor in training.
Mobile care teams treat young people at home over several months, with up to five appointments a week on average. The approach can involve parents and other close contacts, and can reach teenagers who no longer want to leave their rooms.
The programme was set up in response to high demand for inpatient treatment, which left many people facing waits of several months. Since it began in November 2023, 95 children and adolescents have received professional care at home, according to the state.
