Truck fire temporarily closed A1 motorway

A truck fire caused major traffic disruption on the A1 motorway on Thursday, ORF reported. The driver was uninjured, but the road was fully closed for a time.

The cab of the gas-powered tractor unit was already fully ablaze when firefighters arrived. They had to unload the truck’s cargo of walnuts in crates to extinguish the fire completely.

Firefighters found several pockets of embers among the walnuts, which could have caused the fire to flare up again. The motorway was restricted during the operation, and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
