A 23-year-old student who disappeared in Lake Starnberg in June has been found dead, BR reported. Police said a diver from a specialist company in Munich recovered a body from Starnberg Bay on Wednesday afternoon. Initial findings indicate it is the missing student.
The man had been on a boat trip with two friends in mid-June. The three took turns jumping into the water. After about half an hour, the 23-year-old, who could not swim, apparently failed to make it back to the boat.
His friends tried to save him, but he clung to them so tightly that they were also put in danger and could not pull him into the boat. The water rescue service and Starnberg water police searched for him using drones, search dogs and a sonar-equipped boat.
In September, a 63-year-old diver also died in Lake Starnberg. His body was found at a depth of about 60 metres at the Allmannshauser Steilwand after several days of searching.
