Oberndorf extends sports ground lease through summer 2029

The lease for Oberndorf’s sports ground in Flachgau has been extended until summer 2029, ORF reports, giving the Oberndorf Sports Club continued use of its football facilities while a new sports centre is completed.

The extension was agreed with the landowner, the housing cooperative Die Salzburg, after the start of housing construction on the former sports ground was postponed. Mayor Georg Djundja said the arrangement gives the club planning certainty.

An interim arrangement allowing the club to use football facilities offered by SV Laufen and a neighbouring Bavarian town will not be needed. Djundja said the extension was particularly important for the club’s youth teams and their families, and thanked those who had offered support, calling it a sign of good neighbourly relations and solidarity across municipal borders.
