Police seize car after driver reaches 194 km/h on A1

Police seized a car after measuring it at 194 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the A1 near Haid, ORF reported. The driver, a 34-year-old Hungarian man from Salzburg-Umgebung district, was travelling towards Vienna on Tuesday evening.

Officers stopped the German-registered car near the Haid interchange at about 11 p.m. and took the driver’s licence. The car was provisionally seized.

The driver told police he was speeding because a friend was in trouble. Reports will be sent to the relevant authorities.
