Farmer escapes as tractor burns out near Herzogenburg

A farmer escaped uninjured after his tractor caught fire in Oberndorf in der Ebene, in the municipality of Herzogenburg, on Tuesday, ORF reported.

The driver was travelling on the L113 at about 1 p.m. when several warning messages appeared on the dashboard. He stopped and saw flames coming from it. Callers alerted firefighters after spotting a column of black smoke visible as far away as St Pölten.

The farmer moved the tractor off the road and into a meadow, then managed to detach its trailer. The tractor was completely destroyed. Firefighters from Oberndorf, Herzogenburg and Ossarn attended.
