Burgenland, Green Party, Wolfgang Spitzmüller

Wolfgang Spitzmüller, the former Green Party caucus leader in Burgenland’s state parliament, has decided to end his political work there permanently, ORF reported.

Spitzmüller temporarily stepped back from his political roles earlier this year because of a severe bone marrow disease. He said his illness was demanding more time and energy than expected, and doctors had postponed his planned major treatment indefinitely. His sick leave will also continue for an indefinite period.

Philip Juranich, who took over Spitzmüller’s seat in the spring, will now hold the mandate permanently. Margit Paul-Kientzl will remain leader of the Greens’ parliamentary group.
