The state of Salzburg has given final approval for SPAR Group’s planned second corporate headquarters in the city, ORF reported. The Europa Campus, planned between the Taxham S-Bahn station and Europark, has received supervisory approval for its land-use designation.
Three office buildings with up to 1,000 jobs are planned on land currently used as a car park. The project also includes improvements to public transport infrastructure, including rerouting Peter-Pfenninger-Straße across the current parking area, the state said.
Salzburg’s regional planning councillor Martin Zauner of the FPÖ said the project had been reviewed and construction in Taxham could now begin step by step. He said SPAR’s investment would secure high-quality jobs in the region and contribute to prosperity in Salzburg.
SPAR property director Marcus Wild said the project would improve the site’s transport connections, including by creating a large hub for passengers transferring between buses and trains. It would also create a spacious piazza for the neighbourhood, he said.
The first phase, involving construction of an underground car park, is not expected to begin before late 2027.
