A 39-year-old Croatian driver living in Tirol fled German police near Rosenheim in Bavaria on Sunday morning, then fell from a garage roof while continuing his escape on foot, ORF reported. He was injured and taken to Kufstein hospital.

The driver ignored police signals on Germany’s A93 motorway and sped towards Kufstein. A police patrol from Kufstein later located his car, but he continued along Austria’s A12 motorway. He initially tried to head west before turning back near Angath.

In Kirchbichl, in Kufstein district, he left the motorway and tried to rejoin it against the flow of traffic. Police stopped him, and he continued towards Kufstein. His car became stuck in a field there, and he ran away on foot before falling from a garage roof onto a meadow. Police said he suffered injuries to his head and upper body.

It was not immediately clear why he had tried to avoid a police check. He will be reported to the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office over criminal offences and to the Kufstein district authority over traffic violations.
