Police deploy mounted patrol to search for suspected puma
Police in Bavaria have sent a mounted patrol to search for a possible big cat in the Notzinger Moos nature reserve, BR reported. Five days after a hunter filmed a large cat that could be a puma, investigators say they have found no further traces.
The patrol was operating on Sunday in the moor and surrounding area. A police spokesperson said horses could move through the nature reserve more easily and reach places that are harder to access on foot or by vehicle.
The animal was filmed late on Tuesday using a night-vision device. Police are still trying to verify what was seen. There have been no further sightings or traces, and tips from the public have not produced concrete information.
Officers have also searched on foot and used drones, helicopters and police dogs. New wildlife cameras have been installed, but the searches have so far yielded no results.
