Seven-year-old cyclist seriously injured after riding into car

A seven-year-old boy was seriously injured when a car hit him in Bischoffeld, in the Murtal district, on Saturday, ORF Steiermark reports. He had ridden onto the road without warning.

The 21-year-old driver was approaching a blind bend in the built-up area when, according to her account, the boy suddenly rode his bicycle from the roadside into her path.

She braked hard but could not avoid the collision. The boy was thrown from his bicycle and against the car’s windscreen before landing on the road with serious injuries. After receiving initial treatment, he was flown by rescue helicopter to LKH Graz.
