Vienna plans to launch its first “Girls’ Club” platform in spring 2027, bringing existing programmes for girls and young women together and giving them a say in what is added, ORF reports.

The city announced the plan on the International Day of the Girl. An online participation process is now under way and will run until January. An interim update on the results is expected during Vienna Women’s Week, with full details due by spring 2027.

The platform will initially gather existing programmes from the City of Vienna’s Women’s Service. These include workshops on girls’ rights and violence prevention, as well as sessions on work, media, women’s rights and safe nights out. Other offers include the Vienna Daughters’ Day, the DiDays NextGen programme on digitalisation, robotics, gaming and artificial intelligence, and publications on issues affecting girls and women.

The city also highlighted “Girls in Politics”, an initiative that lets girls accompany women politicians at work and learn how political decisions are made. It aims to encourage them to take part in politics.

According to statistics cited by ORF, about 190,000 girls and young women aged 0 to 20 lived in Vienna last year, representing around 18 per cent of the city’s female population.
