Haider-Wallner wins unanimous re-election as Burgenland Greens leader

Anja Haider-Wallner was re-elected leader of the Greens in Burgenland with all delegate votes at the party’s state assembly in Oberpullendorf on Saturday, ORF reported.

Hanna Walk, the Greens’ district spokesperson in Mattersburg, was elected as Haider-Wallner’s deputy with 97 percent of the vote.

Haider-Wallner became the party’s state leader three years ago and led the Greens into the state government. She has been deputy governor of Burgenland for the past year and a half. She said she was delighted by the unanimous result.

The assembly focused on next year’s municipal elections. Haider-Wallner said many issues important to the Greens, including revitalisation, green spaces, land-use designations and trees, are dealt with at municipal level and require committed local representatives.
