The postal service has opened a larger delivery base in Wolfsberg as online orders continue to rise, ORF reported. The facility will handle several thousand parcels a day.
The new base is near a Wolfsberg roundabout, a more convenient location for traffic than the former building in the city centre. It employs 91 people and will serve 26,000 delivery addresses each day, said logistics board member Peter Umundum, who attended the opening.
Parcel volumes are expected to rise further in the coming weeks. During the Christmas period, as many as 5,000 parcels a day are distributed and delivered across the Lavanttal.
The roughly 2,300-square-metre building includes photovoltaic power and electric mobility measures. It can also be expanded if demand increases.
