The University of Art Graz has unanimously extended rector Georg Schulz’s contract for a third term, through February 28, 2032, ORF reported. The university council voted on Thursday.

Council chair Herwig Hösele said the decision sent a signal of stability and continuity. He said the rector’s commitment and consensus among the university’s three governing bodies had put it on a good course, which should be continued in the face of significant budgetary and economic challenges.

The third term will begin in March 2028. The university council is due to elect the vice-rectors in autumn 2027, following proposals from Schulz, the university said in a statement on Friday.
