Italy has not agreed to pay around CHF1.5 million in hospital costs for Italian victims of the Crans-Montana fire, SRF reports. The Swiss broadcaster, citing French-language broadcaster RTS, said the bills cover treatment for 12 Italian victims in Swiss hospitals.
The patients were treated for varying periods. Italy’s government said in April that it would not cover the costs, although an international agreement provides for a patient’s country of residence to pay for treatment abroad.
Swiss President Guy Parmelin promised a solution in May after meeting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. RTS now reports that no solution appears to have been reached.
