A 47-year-old man who confessed to killing his partner is due to stand trial for murder in Korneuburg on October 20, ORF reports. The 36-year-old German woman was found dead in an earth cellar on the man’s property in Wilfersdorf, in the Mistelbach district.

The one-day jury trial follows the man’s admission that he killed her after an argument. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment, court spokeswoman Barbara Michalek told the APA news agency on Thursday.

The man allegedly told an acquaintance about the killing several days after it took place on January 5. The acquaintance reported it to police on January 13, and the suspect led officers to the body. Police had reportedly intervened at the address before.

ORF also listed crisis support services. The women’s helpline can be reached at 0800 222 555, while men can call the 24/7 men’s counselling service on 0800 400 777 or the men’s emergency helpline on 0800 246 247.
