Olma opens its 83rd edition for 11 days

The 83rd Olma, a traditional fair in St Gallen, opened on Thursday, beginning an 11-day celebration of eastern Switzerland and guest canton Schwyz, SRF reported.
Swiss President Guy Parmelin travelled to the opening after a state visit to India. He landed at Altenrhein regional airport early in the morning and went directly to the fair.
The official opening ceremony was held at Theater St. Gallen, with politicians and officials among the guests. A musical procession made its way to the exhibition grounds in the rain.
